Cannabis Coffee – A Caffeinated Cannabis Edible

The human body comprises multiple complicated and intricate systems, and introducing substances such as cannabis coffee will likely impact them in one way or another.

Put plainly, these various systems are responsible for many functions within the body and are affected positively and negatively by whatever you put into them.

For example, when the body has an adverse reaction to certain toxics, it may prompt certain functions to cease or slow down. That said, positive reactions to components such as antioxidants can help to boost functionality and can prevent disease.

So, what is the case for cannabis and coffee? Are the effects different when coffee is infused with cannabis? Is it easy to make a cup of cannabis coffee?

The purpose of today’s article is to answer all these questions and more.

How Cannabis Affects Your Body

Cannabis is one of the most widely used substances in the world. While many countries have taken steps towards legalizing cannabis for recreational and medicinal use, others are yet to see the light or the possibilities it holds.

This decision is likely due to various factors, with perhaps one of the most prominent being the potential adverse effects cannabis can have on the body.

It’s a bit unorthodox to highlight the cons before the pros, but in this sense, it can help to clear up any misconceptions.

Cons – What are the Risks?

If you use cannabis, you risk experiencing short-term memory loss, issues with coordination, and trouble focusing. These effects can happen due to the psychoactive components of cannabis, especially when consumed in high doses.

Cannabis may also increase the risk of heart attack since blood pressure and heart rate can rise significantly within minutes after smoking cannabis. It is also linked to feelings of anxiety, paranoia, and even hallucinations or psychosis in some individuals.

Though many claim there is no risk of lung disease from cannabis, science has proven otherwise. Smoking can cause burning in the throat and mouth, which could lead to severe cough and an increased risk of respiratory infections

Some joint or spliff components may also contain carcinogenic hydrocarbons and may increase the risk of lung cancer. These factors are why smoking alternatives, such as vaporizer pens, have become so incredibly popular.

Vaporizers do not actually combust plant matter. Instead, they heat either cannabis concentrates or dry cannabis flower to the optimal temperature to cause the various terpenes and cannabinoids present in the product to turn into a vapour, which users then inhale.

Finally, while cannabis is not considered highly addictive, it can create dependency in some users, leading to weed addiction and experiencing withdrawal symptoms after long-term use.

Pros – What Makes it Worthwhile?

For argument’s sake, try to recall an advertisement you saw on television or online for a pharmaceutical or medication listing all the potential side effects.

Have you ever wondered why anyone would take certain medications if they have the potential to cause so many adverse side effects?

The answer is simple – the pros outweigh the cons.

Many of cannabis’ negative side effects can be resolved by altering the consumption method, as we outlined with vaporizers above, or by paying closer attention to dosage.

Cannabis has received the green light from the health industry because it is one of the best natural alternatives for specific medications, particularly opioids, which are highly addictive.

Cannabis has proven useful as a supplemental component for treating a vast assortment of conditions, including chronic pain, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, depression, anxiety, glaucoma, arthritis, and more.

It may also help improve the quality of life for persons who experience stress and insomnia. Cannabis has also been revered for boosting brain function, promoting creativity, and improving mood.

How Coffee Affects Your Body

coffee and our bodies

Many people love coffee for an energy boost in the morning. Still, do you actually know how caffeine interacts with your body?

As the day progresses, your body produces more of a chemical called adenosine. Adenosine binds to adenosine receptors in the brain, which slows down nerve cell activity, promoting drowsiness to give the body a chance to rest and repair itself.

Caffeine, the most widely consumed psychoactive substance, is a stimulant that binds to these receptors to produce the opposite effect. Instead of promoting sleepiness, it causes nerve cell activity to speed up, releasing various hormones such as adrenaline and dopamine to make the body perform longer.

Caffeine is also beneficial for promoting weight loss, boosting cognitive function, and preserving eye health. It may also play a role in preventing certain cancers.

Are There any Drawbacks?

While it has multiple energizing benefits, caffeine also has some drawbacks that you may want to bear in mind.

High caffeine intake has been linked to:

  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Nervousness
  • Frequent urination or inability to control urination
  • Increased heart rate
  • Muscle tremors

This evidence brings us back to our point of moderation, or correct dosage, which significantly decreases the chances of these ill-effects in persons without preexisting conditions.

What Happens When You Combine Coffee and Cannabis?

When cannabis and coffee are combined, unsurprisingly, you get cannabis coffee or cannabis-infused coffee.

Many persons have taken a liking to cannabis coffee because cannabis has the potential to boost the stimulating effects of coffee. It also extends the feeling of alertness that typically dissipates after about 6 hours from a single cup of coffee.

This effect, in turn, reduces your overall caffeine consumption, which makes the notorious crash less unpleasant.

Of course, it depends on the strain of cannabis in your coffee. Arguably, the best cannabis-infused coffee will likely be sativa-dominant or a hybrid. If you experience caffeine-induced anxiety, you can also pair your coffee with a CBD-dominant strain.

Cannabis-infused coffee is an excellent choice if you already incorporate cannabis into your daily routine for medicinal reasons. You can kill two birds with one stone, or better yet, one cup.

How to Make Cannabis Coffee

Making a cup of cannabis coffee is easy in theory, but it can be difficult for a first-timer. Don’t be deterred if your first couple of tries do not result in the best coffee you’ve ever made.

To start making your cannabis coffee, you need:

Materials:

  • 3 cups of water
  • Your coffee of choice
  • Your cannabis strain of choice (0.5 g ground)
  • Butter or coconut oil
  • Cheesecloth or a strainer

Instructions:

  1. Add the 3 cups of water to a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
  2. For the coffee and cannabis to combine, you need to use some form of fat. That is the purpose of your butter or coconut oil. Go ahead and add it along with your cannabis.
  3. Stir the combination a few times with a spoon and remove from heat after 45 minutes.
  4. Strain with a cheesecloth to remove plant matter from the water.
  5. Finally, start your coffee brew using that water.

When finished, pour your cup of coffee, and there you have it – cannabis coffee. Sweeten to your liking.

Of course, the method outlined above isn’t the only way to make cannabis coffee. If you’re on a stricter time constraint and need something more straightforward and efficient, distillates and isolate cannabis products serve as the perfect solution.

Hooti Extracts Distillate Syringes are made with pure THC distillate to be used whichever way you see fit. Hooti Distillates are made using a closed-loop CO2 extractor and then distilled using a short path distillation three times, producing pure THC distillate.

Complete with re-introduced terpenes, Hooti distillate provides a safe and convenient way to accurately measure and infuse your cannabis coffee with a consistent dose.

Additionally, if you would like to indulge in a cup of cannabis coffee without the psychoactive properties of THC, Hooti CBD Isolate is a fantastic option. Our CBD isolate is cannabidiol in its purest form possible.

Cannabis Coffee – The Best of Both Worlds

Whichever method you choose, cannabis coffee can be an excellent and easy to create cannabis edible to provide long-lasting energy and healing benefits throughout the day.

That said, as with other substances such as alcohol, caffeine and cannabis, both respectively and when mixed together, should be enjoyed in moderation to avoid producing adverse side effects.

If you do choose to make cannabis coffee, be sure to pay particular attention to your dose level and stay within your regular tolerance levels. If you’re new to this specific cannabis product, start low and go slow to build up your tolerance.

Stay safe and enjoy responsibly!
